RICHMOND - The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) announces a new partnership to provide selected DMV services in Goochland County.
Called DMV Selects, private citizens and local governments contract with DMV to conduct vehicle-related transactions. DMV currently has 57 DMV Select partners throughout the state. Each DMV Select has online access to DMV allowing the partner to update customer records immediately as well as issue vehicle decals.
The Goochland DMV Select will be operated by Commissioner of the Revenue Jean S. Bryant beginning Monday, May 23, 2011. The Goochland Select is located at 1800 Sandy Hook Road, Room 230. The Select's hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
"Customers in the western part of Goochland County rely heavily on our DMV Select partner," said DMV Commissioner Richard D. Holcomb. "The closest full-service DMV to Goochland Courthouse is our West Henrico office, almost 30 minutes away. This partnership with Goochland's local government is providing a necessary service to Virginians."
The Goochland DMV Select was operated out of the county's treasurer's office from 2008 through February 2011. While closed, Goochland residents are being served by the DMV 2 Go mobile customer service center until the new Select office opens under new management.
