New DMV Mobile Office to Supplement Services at Nathalie Select
DMV 2 Go Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Set for November 4
RICHMOND - DMV's new mobile customer service center, called DMV 2 Go, will enhance services provided by the Nathalie DMV Select on Friday, November 4, 2011 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by a luncheon will be held that day in front of the DMV 2 Go unit beginning at 11 a.m. at the Nathalie DMV Select at 5018 Stage Coach Road. The Nathalie Select is located in Halifax County near the town of Brookneal.
The 57 DMV Selects throughout the state are operated by private citizens and local governments that contract with DMV to conduct vehicle-related transactions. Instead of visiting a full-service DMV customer service center, customers can conduct many routine motor vehicle-related services at this convenient location in Nathalie. The closest full-service DMV offices are either in Altavista or South Boston, both about 30 minutes away.
DMV Selects do not issue driver's licenses, learner's permits or ID cards, and that's where DMV 2 Go provides supplemental services. "Our mobile office will enhance the great work the DMV Selects are already doing," said DMV Commissioner Richard D. Holcomb.
DMV 2 Go is a handicapped-accessible full service office that can provide all DMV transactions including driver's licenses and ID cards. Customers can update their address on their DMV record, and update their voter registration address. A wireless Virginia Internet portal is available with information on other Virginia government services. DMV 2 Go is equipped with the latest wireless technology to accomplish the needed connection to DMV's computer systems. The wireless capability allows the units to provide secure service at virtually any location.
