New Gloucester DMV Office Opens May 21 at York River Crossing
Mobile Office Will Serve Customers During Transition
RICHMOND - The Department of Motor Vehicles' (DMV) Gloucester Customer Service Center (CSC) is relocating to 2348 York Crossing Drive in the York River Crossing Shopping Center on Monday, May 21.
The current DMV office at 6577 George Washington Memorial Highway will close for business at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16. The DMV 2 Go mobile office will be parked in front of the new office to serve customers May 17, 18 and 19. Customers can also conduct transactions through www.dmvNOW.com, DMV's automated telephone service at 1-888-337-4782 or the mail.
The new Gloucester CSC is more than 3,900 square feet as compared to the current 2,500-square foot location. The new location will provide customers better parking, safer road test routes and additional amenities, including public restrooms. There will be six customer service windows and three testing stations.
"With its convenient location and added amenities, York River Crossing Shopping Center is the ideal location for a customer service center," said DMV Commissioner Richard D. Holcomb. "It will allow us serve customers more efficiently, minimize customer wait times and provide the newest technologies available for our customer service operation."
DMV will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony June 4 at 1:30 p.m. to celebrate the office's grand opening. A number of legislators and local dignitaries are scheduled to attend.
DMV has 74 offices across Virginia and a fleet of five DMV 2 Go mobile customer service centers.
