DMV Mobile Office Launches New Stop in Roanoke
DMV 2 Go to Serve Customers at the South County Library Branch

RICHMOND - DMV's Roanoke-based mobile customer service center, called DMV 2 Go, will be open for business for the first time outside the Roanoke South County Public Library on Monday, July 16.

DMV 2 Go will serve customers from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the library, located at 6303 Merriman Road, Roanoke, VA, 24018. This visit was rescheduled from July 2, when the mobile office had to provide emergency customer service at the Roanoke DMV Office due to a storm-related server outage.

The handicapped-accessible full service mobile office provides all DMV transactions including driver's licenses and adult, child, and veterans ID cards. Road and knowledge tests are available and customer may complete vision screenings and get their picture taken. Customers can apply for disabled parking placards, vehicle titles, license plates and decals. Thanks to a partnership with the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF), DMV customers can now buy hunting and fishing licenses.

DMV 2 Go is equipped with the latest wireless technology to accomplish the needed connection to DMV's computer systems. The wireless capability allows the units to provide secure service at virtually any location.

DMV 2 Go will be visiting the South County Library for the first time, but has had success nearby at other branch locations with the Roanoke Public Library system.

"Since September 2011, DMV 2 Go has been visiting the main and Melrose locations on a regular basis, serving an average of 70 customers at each visit," said DMV Commissioner Richard D. Holcomb. "We look forward to launching another successful stop with the Roanoke Library system."

Customers are encouraged to research and bring the proper documents to complete their transactions by using the interactive document guide at www.dmvNOW.com. For more details, scheduling information, and a calendar of upcoming locations visit www.dmvNOW.com/DMV2GO.
