DMV Mobile Office Launches Service in City of Colonial Heights
DMV 2 Go to Serve Customers at a Time and Place Convenient to them
RICHMOND - DMV's mobile customer service center, called DMV 2 Go, is launching service in Colonial Heights. DMV 2 Go will be open for business on Thursday, August 9 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 1500 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA, 23834. The mobile office will be parked in the Town Hall Centre Shopping Center across the street from the Colonial Heights Government Center. A ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the partnership between DMV and the City of Colonial Heights will be held at 10:00 a.m. A number of legislators and other local dignitaries are slated to attend.
DMV 2 Go is a handicapped-accessible full service office on wheels that provides all DMV transactions including applying for and renewing driver's licenses and ID cards. Thanks to a partnership with the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF), customers can buy hunting and fishing licenses from DMV. DMV 2 Go is equipped with the latest wireless technology to accomplish the needed connection to DMV's computer systems. The wireless capability allows the units to provide secure service at virtually any location.
"While our customers in Colonial Heights can visit at the nearby Chester or Hopewell DMV offices, we know it can be hard to find the time to slip away to conduct business during the work day," said DMV Commissioner Richard D. Holcomb. DMV 2 Go is bringing services directly to them and saving travel time. Plus, being parked near the Colonial Heights Government Center will allow customers to take care of multiple government services in one location."
