DMV Offices Closed for Columbus Day
Customers Encouraged to Conduct DMV Transactions Online

RICHMOND - All Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) customer service centers (CSC) will be closed Monday, October 8, 2012 in observance of Columbus Day.

When DMV is closed or anytime, customers may visit www.dmvNOW.com to sign up for a myDMV account and take care of their DMV business online. Customers can conduct more than 30 different secure transactions with a myDMV account and personal identification number (PIN), such as renewing driver’s licenses or ID cards, and they may obtain information specific to them, such as their driving records.

Also, by creating a myDMV account, customers may opt to receive electronic renewal notices for decals and driver licenses. Customers check a box indicating they want to receive decal renewal notices via email, phone or text message.

"DMV is always open online where customers can take care of their DMV business 24 hours a day, seven days a week, holidays included," said DMV Commissioner Richard D. Holcomb. "More than one million Virginians have already signed up for this service. A myDMV account is a streamlined service that saves taxpayer money and is environmentally friendly."

In addition, 15 DMV Select offices will be open on Columbus Day. DMV Selects process vehicle-related transactions including registration renewals, titles and license plates; however, driver licenses and ID card services are not available at DMV Select offices. Please consult the following chart for locations and hours.
