DMV 2 Go Serves George Mason University and Fairfax City
Events to Celebrate Mobile Office Service and 10-year Anniversary
RICHMOND - The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is celebrating DMV 2 Go mobile office service in Northern Virginia.
DMV 2 Go will serve the George Mason University (GMU) Fairfax Campus on Monday, June 24 and Tuesday, June 25 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. DMV 2 Go will be parked in the University Hall parking lot at 4400 University Drive, Fairfax, 22030. A ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating this partnership will be held at 10 a.m. on June 25.
The following day, Wednesday, June 26, DMV 2 Go will provide service from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. outside the Fairfax City DMV Select located at 10455 Armstrong Street, Fairfax, 22030. An event and flag-presentation ceremony highlighting continued mobile office service and the Fairfax City DMV Select's 10-year anniversary will be held at 10 a.m. A number of legislators and local leaders are slated to attend both events.
DMV 2 Go complements services already provided by the Fairfax City DMV Select operated by Page Johnson, Commissioner of the Revenue for Fairfax City. The 57 DMV Selects throughout the state provide an alternative to visiting a full-service DMV customer service center. DMV Selects process a number of transactions including vehicle titles and registrations, license plates, and transcript requests. DMV Selects do not issue driver's licenses, learner permits or ID cards, and that's where DMV 2 Go comes in.
The handicapped-accessible full service mobile office provides all DMV transactions including applying for and renewing driver's licenses and ID cards. Road and knowledge tests are available, and applicants may get their pictures taken and complete vision screenings. Veterans can also apply for Virginia's veterans ID card.
"We know how busy life can be and sometimes it is tough to find time to take care of your DMV business, so we are bringing our services at a time and place convenient for our customers," said DMV Commissioner Richard D. Holcomb.
Customers are encouraged to research and bring the proper documents to complete their transactions by using the interactive document guide at www.dmvNOW.com.
