DMV 2 Go Returns to Supplement Service in Town of Blackstone
Event will Celebrate Mobile Office Partnership with DMV Select

RICHMOND - The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles' mobile customer service center, called DMV 2 Go, will return to the Town of Blackstone offering supplemental services at the DMV Select location. On Monday, October 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., DMV 2 Go will be open for business outside the Blackstone DMV Select located at 100 West Elm Street, Blackstone, VA, 23824. A ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating DMV 2 Go mobile office service at this location will be held at 10 a.m. Legislators and local leaders are slated to attend.

The full-service mobile office provides all DMV transactions including applying for and renewing driver's licenses and ID cards. Road and knowledge tests are available, and applicants may get their pictures taken and complete vision screenings. Veterans can also apply for a Virginia veterans ID card.

DMV 2 Go complements services already provided by the Blackstone DMV Select operated by Town Manager Philip Vannoorbeeck. The 57 DMV Selects throughout the state provide a convenient alternative to visiting a full-service DMV customer service center. To the Town of Blackstone, the closest full-service DMV offices are in Farmville or South Hill, both of which are more than a 30-minute drive for most residents.

DMV Selects process a number of transactions including vehicle titles and registrations, license plates, and transcript requests. DMV Selects do not issue driver's licenses, learner's permits or ID cards, and that's where DMV 2 Go comes in.

"We are excited to partner with the Blackstone DMV Select to offer driver transactions," said DMV Commissioner Richard D. Holcomb. "Routine mobile office service at this location allows the folks who live and work here to get DMV service in their own backyard at a convenient time and place without having to travel a long distance."

DMV 2 Go has been providing service three times a year at the Blackstone DMV Select since November of 2012. The mobile office is scheduled to return to the Blackstone DMV Select on February 10, 2014.
